PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Legal Aid Society provides free legal advice and assistance to disadvantaged residents of San Mateo County. To see if you are eligible for Legal Aid help, please call (650) 558-0915.

The Health Consumer Center of San Mateo County (HCC) helps low-income San Mateo residents navigate through the maze of today’s healthcare system and receive the health services they need. Legal Aid answers questions related to:

• Medical bills
• Referrals to specialists and prescription medicine
• Health insurance and help with an appeal if coverage is denied
• Local, state, and federal health programs including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Denti-Cal, and California’s Healthy Families program

Legal Aid works to ensure that all members of our community can access the health coverage and services they need. HCC is an affiliate of the Health Consumer Alliance, a partnership of consumer assistance programs operated by community-based legal services organizations.
