28th Annual
”And Justice for All” Awards Luncheon

Juliet M. Brodie
Keynote Speaker
Professor of Law and Director of the Stanford Community Law Clinic

Professor Juliet M. Brodie has been the director of the Stanford Community Law Clinic since 2005. The clinic provides direct legal services to the low-income communities surrounding Stanford in a range of subject areas, including housing, wage theft, post-conviction relief, and disability benefits.

Juliet’s own subject matter expertise is in tenants’ rights, a practice in which she and her students collaborate closely with the Legal Aid housing team. CLC students have represented hundreds of clients facing eviction under her supervision, work that she in many respects, dedicates to the memory of Shirley Gibson, whose brilliance and joy she tries to bring to the work.

In September 2021, Brodie was also appointed as the faculty director of Stanford’s university-wide Haas Center for Public Service. The Center aims to make principled and effective public service an essential part of every Stanford education.

Before joining the Stanford Law School faculty, Brodie ran similar community-based clinics at the University of Wisconsin and University of Michigan law schools.
